Tightening Torque and Sequence

Cylinder Head Torque & Sequence

Note:
^ Discard old cylinder head bolts.






- Install the new bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts in four steps in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 80 Nm (8.2 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2 Loosen the bolts one full turn.
^ Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
^ Stage 4: Tighten to 92 Nm (68 ft. lbs.)

Head Bolt Reuse/Replace
Note:
^ Replace cylinder head bolts

Upper Intake Manifold Torque & Sequence





Lower Intake Manifold Torque & Sequence






Crankshaft Pulley Torque

Note:
^ For Crankshaft Pulley Installation.





1. Using Vibration Damper and Seal Replacer ST 303 175 (T82L-6316-A) or equivalent, install the crankshaft damper.
^ Coat the sealing surfaces of the crankshaft damper with clean engine oil.
^ Coat the crankshaft damper keyway with silicone.
^ Install the crankshaft damper.





2. Install the crankshaft pulley.


Flex Plate torque and sequence

Note:
^ Special bolts are used for installation; do not use standard bolts.





Position the flexplate on the crankshaft and install the bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern.

Flywheel torque and sequence





Install the flywheel.
Install the six bolts. Tighten the bolts is a crisscross pattern.

Exhaust manifold RH torque and sequence





Install the bolts and the nuts. Tighten the sequence shown in two steps:

Install the bolts and the nuts.
Tighten the nuts and the bolts in sequence in two steps:
Tightening torque 10 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)
Tightening torque 20-25 Nm (1.5-1.8 kgf-m, 15-18 ft. lbs.)
