Exhaust System: Service and Repair
EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATIONWARNING: When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove in the order indicated below.
1. After silencer
2. Main silencer
3. Middle pipe
4. TWC (RH)
5. TWC (LH)
6. Front pipe

7. Rear HO2S (RH)
(See HO2S Removal Note)
8. Rear HO2S (LH)

9. From HO2S (RH)

10. Front HO2S (LH)

11. EGR pipe
12. Exhaust manifold (RH)

13. Exhaust manifold (LH)

3. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Front Pipe Removal Note
1. Remove the transverse member before removing the front pipe. (See TRANSVERSE MEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
HO2S Removal Note
1. Remove the HO2S using the SST.
Exhaust Manifold (RH) Removal Note
1. Disconnect the generator, but do not remove it from the vehicle. After disconnection, fix the generator using a rope to prevent it from falling. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Exhaust Manifold (LH) Installation Note
1. Tighten the exhaust manifold installation nuts in the order shown.
