OCV INSPECTION
Coil Resistance





1. Inspect the resistance between terminals A and B.
^ If not as specified, replace the OCV.





Specification

Spool Valve Operation





1. Verify that the spool valve in the OCV is in the maximum valve timing retard position.
^ If not as specified, replace the OCV.





2. Verify that the spool valve operates and moves to the maximum valve timing advance position when battery positive voltage is applied between the OCV terminals.
^ If not as specified, replace the OCV.

Note: When battery positive voltage is being applied between OCV terminals, the positive and negative cables may be connected to terminals A and B interchangeably.





3. Verify that the spool valve returns to the maximum valve timing retard position when battery positive voltage is not applied.
^ If not as specified, replace the OCV.
