Liquid Purge Box Kit Installation

LIQUID PURGE BOX KIT INSTALLATION

1. Record customer's radio preset stations.

2. Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery.





3. Remove the Catch Tank from the clamp located on the air cleaner case.

4. Disconnect the two (2) hoses attached to the catch tank.

5. Discard the old catch tank.

6. Reconnect the two (2) hoses to the new larger catch tank supplied in the kit.

NOTE:
Do not install the new catch tank into the clamp yet.

7. Remove the top half of the air cleaner case.

8. Remove the two (2) old catch tank clamp mounting screws.

9. Discard the old catch tank clamp.

10. Install the new catch tank clamp supplied in the kit, and tighten the two (2) screws.

11. Reinstall the air cleaner case.

12. Snap the new catch tank into the new clamp.





13. Reinstall the battery and connect the cables.

14. Safely lift the vehicle on a hoist.





15. Locate the Evap Canister and Pump assembly under the driver's seat area.

16. Remove the black plastic cover by removing the three (3) mounting bolts.





17. Disconnect the evap pump connector, 1 small hose, and 3 large hoses (as shown).

18. Discard old white hose joint.

19. Remove the three (3) bolts holding the canister bracket to the body.

20. Set canister bracket on work bench.

21. Disconnect the two (2) large hoses from the canister.

NOTE:
Leave the small center hose attached to the canister.





22. Cut the tie-wraps on the hose harness and remove four (4) nuts holding the canister to the bracket assembly.

23. Discard the old evap canister with the small hose still attached.

24. Remove and discard the old evap pump.

25. Install the new evap pump (supplied in kit) in reverse order of removal.

26. Install the new rubber plug and clamp to the center port on the new canister.

NOTE:
The rubber plug replaces the small hose discarded in Step 23.





27. Install the new canister to the bracket and attach the hoses in reverse order of removal.

28. Tie-wrap the hose harness.

NOTE:
Do not install the canister/bracket to the vehicle at this time.

29. Attach the new white separator to the body where the old separator was removed.





30. Attach the large hose removed in Step 17 and new small hose (yellow mark end toward the separator).





31. Secure new small hose with provided clamps.

32. Reinstall the new tie-wraps that were previously removed.

33. Install the canister bracket assembly back onto the vehicle.

NOTE:
Tightening Torque: 8.82 - 12.74 Nm (90 - 130 kgf-cm, 79 - 112 in. lbf.)

34. Reconnect one large hose to the new white separator, other hose to large pipe, and new small hose with white mark towards body.

35. Reconnect the evap pump connector.

36. Reinstall black plastic cover.

37. Start the engine and clear any old DTCs previously stored in PCM memory.

38. Re-enter the customer's radio pre-set stations.

39. Verify repair.

40. If necessary, proceed to PCM REPROGRAMMING.
