WDS
ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS - WDSNOTE: The security access procedure is utilized to obtain passive anti-theft system (PATS) security access. PATS security access must be granted to erase ignition keys, and enable/disable the spare key programming switch (PID SPARE KEY). The security access procedure invokes an inherent 10 minute time delay prior to granting security access during which the WDS or equivalent must remain connected to the vehicle. Once security access has been granted, a security access command menu is displayed which offers various command options.
NOTE: Once security access has been granted, multiple security access commands should be executed (if necessary) prior to exiting the command menu. This avoids the carrying out of an additional Security Access Procedure and the associated 10 minute time delay.
NOTE: This procedure was performed using WDS B18 software. Later software versions may have a slightly different screen order or content.
1. Connect WDS DLC cable to vehicle's DLC connector (lower portion of dash in front of driver).
2. Press "16 PIN", "All except those below". Press tick.
3. Screen shows cable hookup. Turn ignition switch to ON. Press tick.
4. Screen shows WDS communicating with PCM "progress bar" and "Operation in progress".
5. Wait until WDS finishes collection of PCM information (hard drive light quits flashing). Then the "Vehicle Specification" screen appears with VIN # information. It asks you "Is this correct?" Press "Yes" if information is correct.
6. Screen appears to fill out R.O. information and mileage. Fill out the information (or skip this). Press tick.
7. Screen now returns to the "Vehicle Specification Screen".
8. Now press the "tools" tab on the top, then "Body", "Security" and then "PATS FUNCTIONS". Press tick.
9. Screen will appear information of "PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM". Press tick
10. The screen will then show:
- This procedure will take 10 minutes.
- Do you wish to continue? "YES" "NO".
11. Press "YES" and the progress bar will appear.
12. After the 10 minute security access procedure has been completed, a new menu will be displayed with command options. Select only those functions necessary before exiting out of this menu. Once exited out of this menu, the security access procedure must be repeated again to carry out additional commands.
