EGR Valve: Service and Repair
ELECTRIC EGR (EEGR) VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.
4. Remove the rear driveshaft. See PROPELLER SHAFT REAR (4X2) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION or PROPELLER SHAFT REAR (4X4) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
5. Remove the bolts retaining the catalytic converter to the muffler. Discard the exhaust converter outlet gasket.
NOTE: Manual transmission shown, automatic transmission similar.
6. Support the transmission with a suitable transmission jack.
7. Remove the six bolts (three on each side) retaining the crossmember to the frame.
8. Remove the retaining nuts and the crossmember.
9. Lower the transmission enough to allow access to the EGR valve.
10. Disconnect the EGR coolant hose.
11. Remove the bolts and the EGR valve.
- Discard the gasket.
NOTE: Clean the gasket mating surfaces and install new gaskets.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
