DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may have a Malfunction Indictor Light (MIL) illuminated with the following DTCs stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) memory.
^ DTC P2404
^ DTC P0446
^ DTC P2404 & P0446
Depending on the VIN and DTCs stored in memory, installation of a LIQUID PURGE BOX KIT and/or PCM REPROGRAMMING will be necessary to repair the vehicle.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. According to the VIN of the subject vehicle, refer to TABLE 1 or TABLE 2.
2. Based on the DTC(s) stored in PCM memory, determined the necessary repair(s).
3. Proceed to either LIQUID PURGE BOX KIT INSTALLATION or PCM REPROGRAMMING section of this Service Bulletin.
NOTE:
If it is necessary to perform both repairs (Liquid Purge Box Kit installation & PCM Reprogramming) on the same vehicle, be sure to install the Liquid Purge Box Kit BEFORE reprogramming the PCM.
CALIBRATION INFORMATION
NOTE:
The PCM Calibration Part Numbers listed above are provided for PCM reprogramming purposes only.
These are not necessarily the same Mazda part numbers used to order an actual PCM through the Mazda Parts System. It is not necessary to order a PCM as part of this repair procedure.
