Oil Filter: Service and Repair

OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the oil filter.
2. Remove insert if necessary. The insert is not normally removed for replacing filter.
3. Use a clean rag to wipe off the mounting surface of the oil filter.
4. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the oil gasket of the oil filter.
5. Install insert.

Note:
^ Do not tighten with oil filter wrench as that will make it difficult to remove.

Tightening torque 28 - 35 Nm (2.8 - 3.5 kgf-cm, 21 - 26 ft. lbs.)
6. Install the oil filter and tighten it by hand until the oil gasket contacts the mounting base.
7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
8. Check oil level and add if necessary.
