Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

IGNITION COIL INSPECTION

Primary Coil Winding

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.




2. Measure the resistance between the following terminals using an ohmmeter:
- A and B
- If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

Resistance (Reference)
0.45 - 1.15 ohms [25 °C {77 °F}]

Secondary Coil Winding

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
2. Remove the ignition coil.




3. Measure the resistance using an ohmmeter as shown in the figure:
- If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

Resistance (Reference)
5.0 - 6.0 kOhms [25 °C {77 °F}]
