Cruise Control Servo: Service and Repair

SPEED CONTROL ACTUATOR

Speed Control Actuator:






Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.




2. Press the locking tab and rotate the cruise control cable cap to remove.




3. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the cruise control actuator pulley.
1. Gently push the retaining spring.
2. Disconnect the cruise control cable slug from the cruise control actuator pulley.




4. Remove the cruise control actuator assembly.
1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Separate the wire harness from the bracket.
3. Remove the nuts.




5. Remove the bolts and separate the cruise control actuator from the bracket.

Installation




1. Attach the cruise control actuator to the bracket.




2. Install the cruise control actuator assembly.
1. Install the nuts.
2. Secure the wire harness to the bracket.
3. Connect the electrical connector.




3. Insert the cruise control cable slug into the cruise control actuator pulley slot.
1. Gently push the retaining spring.
2. Insert the cruise control cable slug completely into the cruise control actuator pulley slot.






CAUTION: It is necessary to squarely seat the cruise control cable cap and seal around the cruise control actuator pulley.

CAUTION: Incorrect wrapping of the cruise control cable around the cruise control actuator pulley may result in high idle conditions.

NOTE: Make sure the rubber seal is fully seated onto the cruise control cable cap.

4. Align the cruise control cable cap tabs with the slots in the cruise control actuator housing.




5. Rotate the cruise control cable cap until the locking tab engages.
