Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) AND CATALYST MONITOR SENSOR - 3.OL (4V)

Removal and Installation

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




3. Remove the 7 retainers and the LH splash shield.

Tightening Torque: 10 Nm (1.0 kgf.m, 89 in.lbf)




4. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor with penetrating and lock lubricant to aid in removal.

5. Using the exhaust gas oxygen sensor socket SST, remove the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor.

NOTE: Apply a light coat of high temperature nickel anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor to aid in installation.

Tightening Torque: 48 Nm (4.9 kgf.m, 35 ft.lbf)

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
