Pinpoint Test 7

PINPOINT TEST 7: THE TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK WARNING CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY

Step 1:

Step 2 - 6:

Step 7 - 8:

Normal Operation
The transaxle not in PARK warning chime sounds if the ignition switch is in RUN/START positions, the transaxle is not in PARK, and the driver door is ajar. The instrument cluster sends a reference voltage to the brake shift interlock actuator through circuit (DG/O). When the transaxle is placed in any position except PARK, the brake shift interlock actuator routes the signal to ground through circuit (B).

Possible Causes
- circuit (B) open
- circuit (DG/O) open or short to ground
- brake shift interlock actuator
- ignition switch
- instrument cluster
