EGR Valve: Service and Repair

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE

Removal and Installation
1. Drain the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING FILLING AND BLEEDING.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
3. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.
4. Disconnect and position aside the upper radiator hose clamp and upper radiator hose.
5. Disconnect and position aside the EGR coolant hose clamp and EGR coolant hose.




6. Remove the EGR valve.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the EGR valve.
3. Remove the EGR valve gasket.

NOTE: The EGR valve sealing surfaces are soft metals.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Carefully clean all sealing surfaces and install a new EGR valve gasket.
