Body - Rear Quarter Glass Replacement Precaution

Bulletin No: 09-023/09

Last Issue: 04/16/2009

Subject:
REAR QUARTER GLASS REPLACEMENT PRECAUTION

APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS

DESCRIPTION

During rear quarter glass replacement, do not allow primer to enter between the rear quarter glass and garnish (molding)(A), otherwise cracks may appear on the garnish and/or the parts may adhere to each other. If heat is applied, the garnish may crack or black ceramic paint can peel due to a difference in shrinkage ratio.

Also, on some models the black ceramic paint coating on the glass may come off.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Before applying primer, take precautions to prevent primer from entering between the rear quarter glass and garnish (molding).

2. Place glass on a flat surface.

3. Apply primer onto glass.

4. Allow primer to dry according to the product instructions prior to mounting glass onto newly applied urethane.

CAUTION:
If the primer is not allowed to dry prior to glass installation, the primer may run onto the vehicle's molding and cause the molding to crack.
