Body - Water Drops From Upper Liftgate Trim When Opening

TSB: 09-018/07

2007 CX-7 - WATER DROPS FROM UPPER TRIM WHEN OPENING LIFTGATE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007 CX-7 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3ER****7*169332 (produced before May 7, 2007)

DESCRIPTION

On some vehicles, water may drop from both sides of the upper trim when opening the liftgate. This is due to the disengagement of the four (4) hooks on the lower part of the high mount stop lamp housing. The high mount stop lamp housing loosens and raises and allows water to enter the area.

The shape of the four (4) hooks on the lower part of the high mount stop lamp housing have been modified at mass-production to eliminate this concern. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify complaint by removing upper trim and confirming there are water entry marks or stains on back side of trim. Also confirm high mount stop lamp housing hooks are not properly engaged.

2. Close liftgate and fully push in all four (4) high mount stop lamp housing hooks from the outside.

NOTE:
If it is difficult to push in the hooks from the outside, open the liftgate and pull the hooks in from the inside (through service hole) using long-nose pliers.

3. Verify repair.
