Wipers/Washers - Poor High Speed Washer Performance
Bulletin No.: 09-040/07Last Issued: 11/29/2007
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
2007 CX-7 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3ER******175809 (produced before July 1, 2007)
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience poor windshield wiping performance during high speed driving of 60 mph or more.
During high speed driving, the windshield washers do not spray the proper area of the windshield when the wiper arms are in the parked position. When the wiper arms are in use, the windshield washers spray the bottom area of the windshield resulting in poor wiper performance. This is caused by highly-concentrated washer fluid (greater than 50% methyl concentration) used in cold climates. The washer fluid spray area is too small.
To eliminate this concern, the windshield washer motor discharge has been increased. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace the windshield washer motor with a modified part according to Workshop Manual (section 09-19 WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Verify repair.
