Flywheel Removal / Installation
FLYWHEEL REMOVAL / INSTALLATIONRemoval
1. Remove the clutch disc and clutch cover.
2. Using the flywheel holding tool, remove the bolts and the flywheel.
Installation
Note:
^ Engine balancing is not required. Balance weights should not be installed on the new flywheel.
Note:
^ Special bolts are used for installation. Do not use standard bolts.
1. Inspect the pilot bearing. Install a new pilot bearing as necessary.
2. Position the flywheel.
3. Using the special tool, install the bolts in the sequence shown, in 3 stages.
^ 2.3L Engine:
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (5.1 kgf-m, 37 lb-ft).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 80 Nm (8.2 kgf-m, 59 lb-ft).
^ Stage 3: Tighten to 112 Nm (11.4 kgf-m, 83 lb-ft).
^ 4.0L Engine:
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 13 Nm (1.3 kgf-m, 10 lb-ft).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 50 Nm (5.1 kgf-m, 37 lb-ft).
^ Stage 3: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
4. Install the clutch disc and clutch cover.
