Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE CONTROL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION





1. Remove the front driver side door scuff plate and kick panel.
2. Release the parking brake cable tension.
3. Remove the parking brake release handle bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 10 N-m (1.0 kgf-m, 89 in-lbf).
4. Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector and detach harness pin-type retainer from the parking brake control cover.
5. Remove the 2 parking brake control bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 27 N-m (2.7 kgf-m, 20 ft-lbf).
6. Remove the 2 parking brake control nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 27 N-m (2.7 kgf-m, 20 ft-lbf).
7. Remove the parking brake control.
^ Disconnect the front parking brake cable.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note
^ Make sure that the cable is in the groove on the control wheel prior to final tightening of fasteners.
