Water Pump: Service and Repair

WATER PUMP - 2.3L REMOVAL/INSTALLATION





1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt.
4. Remove the 3 bolts and the water pump pulley.
^ To install, tighten to 20 N-m (2.0 kgf-m, 15 ft-lbf).
5. Remove the 3 bolts and the water pump.
^ Remove and discard the water pump O-ring seal.
^ To install, tighten to 10 N-m (1.0 kgf-m, 89 in-lbf).
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
7. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
