Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND SHAFT - 2.3L REMOVAL/INSTALLATION






WARNING: Make sure surrounding components such as wiring, hoses, sound insulation and floor carpeting are not contacting the sliding inner cable of the accelerator cable or the accelerator pedal and shaft. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury to the vehicle occupant(s).

NOTE: The accelerator pedal and shaft should travel smoothly from idle to WOT positions. Hesitation on return or prevention of return to the idle position must not occur.

1. Remove the accelerator cable from the rubber plunger.
2. Remove the 2 bolts and the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.
- To install, tighten to 9 N.m {0.9 kgf.m, 80 in.lbf}.

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
