PINPOINT TEST 13: DTCs C1322, C1323, C1324 AND C1325 - BRAKE HYDRAULIC MASTER CYLINDER PISTON TRAVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT FAULT/FAILURE - HYBRID
Normal Operation
The ABS control module monitors the master cylinder piston position to determine whether the brake is being applied or not and with how much force.
The sensor has 2 sets of 3 circuits:
Low Resolution Circuits
- (L/BR)
- (GY/Y)
- (G/W)The ABS control module sends a 5-volt reference voltage to the sensor along circuit (L/BR). The voltage returns along circuit (G/W) and the piston position is determined using the voltage that is sent back to the ABS control module along circuit (GY/Y).
High Resolution Circuits
- (BR/W)
- (Y/V)
- (W)The ABS control module sends a 5-volt reference voltage to the sensor along circuit (BR/W). The voltage returns along circuit (W) and the piston position is determined using the voltage that is sent back to the ABS control module along circuit (Y/V).
- DTC C1322 (Brake Hydraulic Master Cylinder Piston Travel Sensor 1 Circuit Failure) - If the ABS control module detects an open, a short to voltage or a short to ground on the low resolution circuits of the brake pedal position sensor, it will set DTC C1322.
- DTC C1323 (Brake Hydraulic Master Cylinder Piston Travel Sensor 1 Signal Fault) - If the ABS control module detects an open, a short to voltage or a short to ground on the low resolution circuits of the brake pedal position sensor, it will set DTC C1323. Also, if the information the ABS control module receives from the sensor does not match information from the other brake pedal sensors, DTC C1323 will also set.
- DTC C1324 (Brake Hydraulic Master Cylinder Piston Travel Sensor 2 Circuit Failure) - If the ABS control module detects an open, a short to voltage or a short to ground on the high resolution circuits of the brake pedal position sensor, DTC C1324 will be set.
- DTC C1325(Brake Hydraulic Master Cylinder Piston Travel Sensor 2 Signal Fault) - If the ABS control module detects an open, a short to voltage or a short to ground on the high resolution circuits of the brake pedal travel sensor, DTC C1325 will be set. This DTC will also be set if the information the ABS control module receives from the travel sensor does not match the other brake pedal sensors.
Possible Causes
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Brake pedal travel sensor (part of the master cylinder)
- ABS control module (part of the hydraulic control unit [HCU])
Diagnostic Procedure
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connectors
NOTE: The brake pedal position sensor is integral to the master cylinder. The brake pedal position sensor is not available separately and must be installed as an assembly.
NOTE: The ABS control module is matched to the HCU. The ABS control module and HCU must be installed as an assembly.
