Pinpoint Test 11: The Satellite Audio Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly

PINPOINT TEST 11: THE SATELLITE AUDIO IS INOPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - HYBRID

Normal Operation

The satellite digital audio receiver system (SDARS) module receives voltage through circuit (BR/R) and ground through circuit (B/GY). Digital signals are received by the satellite radio antenna and sent to the SDARS module. The audio signals are then sent to the audio control module (ACM).
Circuits (G/O), (Y/L), (V/BR), and (Y/L) transmit left and right channel audio signals to the ACM. When there is a fault on any of these circuits, the audio quality is reduced. If the circuits for a specific channel are shorted together, loss of audio on that entire channel will occur. This can be detected by using the satellite radio tones test. For vehicles without navigation, in order for the satellite radio system to operate, messages are sent from the front controls interface module (FCIM) to the ACM when a button is pressed. The ACM responds with the appropriate function. The SDARS module sends messages to the front display interface module (FDIM) (vehicles without navigation) or the ACM (vehicles with navigation) in order to display satellite radio information on the display screen.

- DTC U0184 (Lost Communication With Radio [ACM]) - sets when the SDARS module is missing messages from the ACM for greater than 5 seconds. This results in loss of satellite radio functionality.
- DTC U0193 (Lost Communication With Digital Audio Control Module [SDARS]) - sets when the ACM is missing messages from the SDARS module for greater than 5 seconds. This results in loss of satellite radio functionality.
- DTC U0255 (Lost Communication With Front Controls Interface Module) - sets when the SDARS module is missing messages from the ACM for greater than 5 seconds. This results in loss of satellite radio functionality. This DTC only applies to vehicles without navigation.
- DTC U0256 (Lost Communication With Front Display Interface Module) - sets when the SDARS module is missing messages from the ACM for greater than 5 seconds. This results in loss of satellite radio information being displayed on the FDIM screen. To diagnose this DTC, see Pinpoint Test 10: An Individual Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) Display Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly.

Possible Causes
- Subscription status
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- SDARS module
