Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HYBRID
WARNING: Do not smoke, or carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING: Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel tubes or fuel system components, relieve the fuel system pressure to prevent accidental spraying of fuel. Fuel in the fuel system remains under pressure, even when the engine is not running. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.
2. Relieve the fuel pressure. See Service and Repair.
NOTE: Some residual fuel may remain in the fuel filter after releasing the fuel system pressure. Upon disconnecting or removing the fuel filter, carefully drain any residual fuel into a suitable container.
3. Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-fuel filter inlet quick connect coupling. See - Quick Release Coupling - Double Locking.
4. Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-fuel filter outlet quick connect coupling. See - Quick Release Coupling - Double Locking.
5. Release the fuel filter clamp and remove the fuel filter.
- To install, tighten to 4 Nm {0.4 kgf-m, 35 in-lbf}.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
