EGR Valve: Service and Repair
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE - 3.0L (4V) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION1. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube-to-EGR valve upper fitting.
- To install, tighten to 40 N.m {4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}.
2. Disconnect the vacuum tube fitting from the EGR valve.
3. Remove the 2 bolts and the EGR valve.
- To install, tighten to 25 N.m {2.5 kgf.m, 18 ft.lbf}.
4. Remove and discard the EGR valve gasket.
CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges that make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve gasket.
NOTE:
- If there is no residual gasket material present, metal surface prep can be used to clean and prepare the surfaces.
- Do not reuse the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve gasket.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
