Keyless Entry - Transmitter Inoperative

KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM TRANSMITTER INOPERATIVE - (RETRACTABLE

TYPE KEY)

BULLETIN NOTE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S) I VINS 2009 MAZDA6 with Retractable Type Key

DESCRIPTION

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

NOTE: The originally equipped transmitter will no longer be in use because of a different manufacturer's system. If an additional transmitter is needed, register the new transmitter ID code according to MS3 online instructions or the Workshop Manual.

2. Determine if transmitter battery is dead.

- If transmitter battery is dead, replace it with a CR1620 (or equivalent) battery.

- If transmitter battery is not dead, proceed to next step for transmitter and receiver replacement.

NOTE: Transmitter ID Code Registration is unnecessary when using the keyless set

4. Record customer's preset radio stations.

5. Disconnect negative battery cable.
6. Remove upper center panel (A) and glove compartment (B).

7. Replace keyless receiver according to steps a

a. Place a light (A) near upper center panel.
b. Route short cord from glove compartment opening to upper center panel.

NOTE: Pass the short cord (B) through the clearance where the light is penetrating from the upper center panel side (C). Be sure to locate the short cord end without coupler (A) to the upper center panel side.

c. Pull 1 Gi power cord (green/orange) from center display harness (B), then connect with short cord (A)

using electro tap (C).

1) Place end of short cord (A) into electro tap (C).

2) Flip tab over and close.

3) Place center display harness (B) on other side of electro tap.

4) Flip electro tap itself over the harness.
NOTE: Location of 1 Gi power cord (A) at center display harness coupler.

d. Bind extra harness with electrical tape at location (A).

e. Remove receiver from glove compartment opening.
f. Connect short cord (B) with receiver connector (C) and vehicle harness (A).

g. Install new receiver.

h. Bind short cord and affix to vehicle harness with tie-wrap (A).

NOTE: Make sure that bound short cord is placed deep inside glove box to avoid interference.


I. Cut tie-wrap (A) making sure that only 1-2 mm is left from tightened portion.

8. Reconnect negative battery cable.

9. Verify transmitter works properly to lock/unlock doors.

10. Install glove compartment and upper center panel.

11. Using a small flat screwdriver, push tab (A) lightly and separate original transmitter and key.

CAUTION: Be careful, the tab can be easily broken if pushed too hard.

12. Install separated key to new transmitter.

13. Insert Declaration of Conformity" leaflet into customer's Owners Manual.

NOTE: The Declaration of Conformity" leaflet contains certification to local radio acts (regulations).

14. Re-enter customer's preset radio stations.

15. Perform Power Window Initialization Procedure".

16. Verify repair.
