DRIVER-SIDE MIRROR VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING ON ROUGH ROAD

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may exhibit a vibration on driver-side rear view mirror (A) when driving on a rough road. During this condition, customers may complain that the rear view mirror is difficult to see. Repair procedures have been developed to reduce vibration concern. Use REPAIR PROCEDURE "A" and "B" on vehicles with driver-side rear view mirror turn lamp. Use REPAIR PROCEDURE "A" and "C" on vehicles without driver-side rear view mirror turn lamp.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedures.

REPAIR PROCEDURE "A" (Body panel inspection and repair)

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove driver-side rear view mirror according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 POWER OUTER MIRROR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION) for body panel inspection.

3. Using a ruler, check for any deformation on the body panel around the mirror fixing bolt.





^ Inspect outside of the vehicle. If a gap appears, the panel is deformed.





^ Inspect inside of the vehicle. If a gap appears, the panel is deformed.





4. If deformation appears, insert a 10 mm-headed bolt (A) (L: 40 mm) from the outside.





5. Fit a 17 mm flange nut (B) from the inside, then secure it with another 10 mm flange nut (C).





6. Tighten the 10 mm flange nut to eliminate the deformation.

7. Remove the 10 mm-headed bolt, 17 mm and 10 mm flange nuts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE "B" (Door Mirror Replacement with Turn Lamp)





1. Remove the mirror glass (D) according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 OUTER MIRROR GLASS REMOVAL). The mirror glass will be reused.





2. In order to prevent damage to the paint area, apply masking tape on mirror housing (E) and remove the mirror housing according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 OUTER MIRROR GARNISH REMOVAL). The mirror housing will be reused. Only replace if necessary.

NOTE:
Remove the mirror housing with caution by using a thin flat screwdriver (F).





3. Remove the two screws (G) and disconnect the harness connector (H) to remove the turn lamp.

4. Replace the mirror body with replacement part from PART INFORMATION table.

5. Install the rear view mirror in the reverse order of removal according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 OUTER MIRROR GLASS INSTALLATION) and (section 09-12 POWER OUTER MIRROR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).





NOTE:
Fit the guide of mirror housing into the mirror body first (I), and then fit the fitting detent (J).

REPAIR PROCEDURE "C" (Door Mirror Replacement without Turn Lamp)

1. Remove the mirror housing according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 OUTER MIRROR GARNISH REMOVAL).

2. Replace the mirror sub-assembly with replacement part from PART INFORMATION table.

3. Install the rear view mirror in the reverse order of removal according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-12 POWER OUTER MIRROR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
