Subject: PAINT PEELING ON FRONT / REAR BUMPER EDGE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007-2012 CX-9 vehicles with
VINS lower than JM3 TB******348339 (produced before November 25, 2011)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit paint peeling on the front and/or rear bumper edge where the bumper contacts the fender.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.

3. Remove a 10 mm width of paint from the bumper edge where it contacts fender.

4. In order to remove the moulding release agent(s), sand the indicated surface(s) with # 440 grit sand paper using about 50 strokes.

NOTE:
The sanding can either be wet or dry. Check your local state regulations for sanding requirements.

5. Repaint the area.

6. Install the bumper.

7. Verify repair.
