HEADLIGHT PROTECTOR COMES OFF

2007-2009 CX-9 built before JM3 TB**** 9* 163350 (June 18, 2008)
DESCRIPTION
The headlight protector may come off on some vehicles causing poor appearance. Also, a wind noise may occur between the fender and the headlight while driving if protector cover comes off or is partially peeled off. This concern is caused by poor adhesion of the protector. New headlight protectors have been developed with improved adhesion to resolve concern. It is not necessary to replace the headlight assembly.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove affected headlight assembly according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-18 FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Peel off the affected protector "A" or "B" and its adhesive tape completely from the lens surface. Use a plastic peeling paddle if necessary.
4. Clean adhesion surface area using mild soap and water and wipe completely dry.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage on lens surface, do not use the following chemicals for cleaning:
^ Strong acid cleanser
^ Strong alkaline cleaner
^ Gasoline
^ Kerosene
^ Highly-concentrated alcohols
^ Paints
^ Organic solvents such as thinner
5. Apply protector "A" and "B".
Protector A
a. Begin application of Protector "A" at top inner edge (1) and continue applying along channel (2) until it loops downward at top outer edge.
NOTE:
Make sure Protector "A" does not stick out to of the channel.
Protector B
a. Fit Protector "B" to the corner (3) of Protector "A".
b. Attach Protector "B" to the depressed groove of the lens.
6. Verify that there is no wind noise between the fender and the headlight while driving.
