PINPOINT TEST 4: THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE SCAN TOOL - HYBRID

Normal Operation

The instrument cluster (IC) communicates with the scan tool through the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN). Circuits (W/L) (HS-CAN +) and (W) (HS-CAN -) provide the HS-CAN connection to the IC and circuits (GY/O) (MS-CAN +) and (V/O) (MS-CAN -) provide the medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN) connection to the IC. The IC shares the HS-CAN with the PCM, the ABS module, the 4X4 control module, the restraints control module (RCM), the power steering control module (PSCM), the occupant classification sensor module (OCSM), the transmission control module (TCM) and the battery control module (BCM).The IC shares the MS-CAN with the smart junction box (SJB), the HVAC module, the audio control module (ACM), the satellite digital audio receiver system (SDARS) module, the front controls interface module (FCIM) and front display interface module (FDIM). Voltage for the IC is provided by circuits (W/V), and (Y/R). Circuits (B/G) and (B/L) provide ground.

CAUTION:Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. See Battery Disconnect.
