SATELLITE RADIO (NON-NAVIGATION) - INOPERATIVE WITH BLANK MESSAGE DISPLAY AND NO CODES

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2009 Tribute and Tribute Hybrid, built between 12/03/2008 - 05/09/2009

DESCRIPTION

During PDI, some vehicles equipped with satellite radio (non-navigation), may exhibit satellite radio inoperative with blank message display, no codes and only displays sat1, sat2 or sat3. This may be caused by a one-time only initialization error during manufacturing.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the satellite radio (non-navigation) is inoperative with blank message display, no codes and only displays sat1, sat2 or sat3.

a. Yes - Go to Step 2.

b. No - This procedure does not apply. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 09-20 AUDIO CONTROL MODULE (ACM) SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE).

2. Move the vehicle outside of the building.

3. Remove fuse 39 and wait 4 minutes before reinserting fuse. This will reset the system and permanently correct the condition.

- If channel 184 (Weather Channel) is the only channel available, then the system is working correctly but does not have a subscription.

- If vehicle is outside with "NO SIGNAL" displayed, then refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 09-20 AUDIO CONTROL MODULE (ACM) SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE).

4. Verify repair.
