PINPOINT TEST 11: DTCs C1305, C2769, C2778, U1901 AND U2527 - SENSOR CLUSTER FAULT - HYBRID

Normal Operation

The yaw rate sensor, roll rate sensor, lateral and longitudinal accelerometer are contained in one module called the stability control sensor cluster. The sensor cluster measures the vehicle acceleration, roll rate and yaw rate, then sends the signal through a secondary, dedicated controller area network (CAN2) bus to the ABS control module. The ABS control module compares the information from the sensor cluster to information it receives from other sensors (brake pedal input, steering wheel rotation sensor, etc.) to determine how valid the information is and to determine if a roll-over event is about to occur. The ABS control module provides power to the sensor cluster along circuit (V/BR) and ground along circuit (BR/V). The sensor cluster and the ABS control module communicate along circuits (L/W) and (G/O). An open circuit or a short to power or ground on any one of these 4 circuits will cause the ABS control module to set a DTC. Also, if the sensor cluster is not mounted in the correct position, with the electrical connector facing the passenger seat, the ABS control module will also set DTCs.

- DTC C1305 (Longitudinal Accelerometer Signal Fault) - If the ABS control module receives an input from the sensor cluster that does not agree with information from other sensors, the ABS control module will set DTC C1305. This could be caused by a defective sensor cluster or the sensor cluster not being installed correctly.
- DTC C2769 (Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor Electrical Failure) - This is a general failure of the sensor cluster. An open or a short to power or ground in one of the 4 sensor cluster circuits will cause the ABS control module to set DTC C2769. The sensor cluster reporting information that is out of the normal range , if the sensor is missing, if there is an internal failure of the sensor or if the sensor has either not been calibrated or has lost the calibration.
- DTC C2778 (Sensor Power Supply Failure) - An open or short to ground in the sensor cluster power supply circuit will cause the ABS control module to set DTC C2778.
- DTC U1901 (CAN Network #2 Communication Bus Fault - Receive Error) - If the ABS control module does not receive an expected message from the sensor cluster within a given period, the ABS control module will set DTC U1901.
- DTC C2527 (CAN Network #2 Bus Off - Transmit Error) - If the ABS control module cannot send messages to the sensor cluster along the CAN2 bus, the ABS control module will set DTC U2527.

Possible Causes
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Stability control sensor cluster
- ABS control module

Diagnostic Procedure

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connectors

NOTE: The longitudinal accelerometer is integral to the sensor cluster. The sensor cluster is not repairable and must be installed as an assembly.
