ENGINE NOISE - DROAN / MOAN SOUND AT 1800-2300 RPM

2009 Tribute Hybrid vehicles produced on or before June 26, 2009
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a slightly louder than normal drone/moan noise on acceleration at approximately 1800-2300 rpm.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Disable the vehicle high voltage electrical system according to MS3 on-line instructions or Workshop Manual (Section 01-13 HIGH-VOLTAGE TRACTION BATTERY SYSTEMS DEPOWERING - HYBRID).
3. Remove the lower transaxle insulator through bolt.
4. Remove the rear roll restrictor-to-crossmember through bolt.
5. Remove the nut, bolts and engine support crossmember. Discard the nut.
6. Replace the engine support crossmember with improved service level crossmember.
Tightening Torque: Bolts - 66 lb-ft. (90 Nm), New nut - 129 lb-ft. (175 Nm)
NOTE:
This part is only applicable to 2009 vehicles produced on or before June 26, 2009, and will not correct any other symptom.
7. Install rear roll restrictor-to-crossmember through bolt.
Tightening Torque: 66 lb-ft. (90 Nm)
8. Install the lower transaxle insulator through bolt.
Tightening Torque: 85 lb-ft. (115 Nm)
9. Enable the vehicle high voltage electrical system according to MS3 on-line instructions or Workshop Manual (Section 01-13 HIGH-VOLTAGE TRACTION BATTERY SYSTEMS DEPOWERING - HYBRID).
10. Verify repair.
