Pinpoint Test 4: The Steering Wheel Control Illumination Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST 4: THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation

The smart junction box (SJB) sends a pulse-width modulated (PWM) voltage to the steering wheel controls through circuit (V/GY) to the clockspring. The voltage passes through the clockspring to the steering wheel control switch harness and on to the steering wheel controls. Ground is supplied through the clockspring and circuit (B/G).

Possible Causes
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Steering wheel control switch harness
- Steering wheel control switch(es)
- Clockspring

Diagnostic Procedure

CAUTION:Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. See Battery Disconnect.
