Removal and Replacement





FRONT A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Discharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Charging

3. Drain the engine coolant. Service and Repair

4. Remove the following parts:
a. Decoration panel Decoration Panel Removal/Installation

b. Front console box mat Front Console Box Mat Removal/Installation

c. Indicator panel Indicator Panel Removal/Installation

d. Front console box Front Console Box Removal/Installation

e. Dashboard under cover Dashboard Under Cover Removal/Installation

f. Side wall Side Wall Removal/Installation

g. Console panel Console Panel Removal/Installation

h. Console cover Console Cover Removal/Installation

i. Console Console Removal/Installation

j. Front scuff plate inner Front Scuff Plate Removal/Installation

k. Front side trim Front Side Trim Removal/Installation

l. Glove compartment Service and Repair

m. Hood release lever Service and Repair

n. Lower panel Lower Panel Removal/Installation

o. Lower column cover Service and Repair

5. Disconnect the front door wiring harness connector (Driver side). Front Door Module Panel Removal/Installation

6. Remove the brake switch from the brake pedal with the brake switch connector connected. Service and Repair

7. Remove the selector lever component. Automatic Transaxle Shift Mechanism Removal/Installation

8. Remove the windshield wiper arm. Windshield Wiper Arm And Blade Removal/Installation

9. Remove the cowl grille. Cowl Grille Removal/Installation

10. Remove the windshield wiper motor. Windshield Wiper Motor Removal/Installation

11. Remove the dashboard. Dashboard Removal/Installation

12. Remove the rear heat duct fasteners and slide the rear heat duct rearward. Rear Heat Duct Component Removal/Installation

13. Disconnect the drain hose.

14. Remove the nuts.






15. Remove the bracket.

16. Remove the bolts.

17. Remove the dashboard bracket.

18. Remove the hose clips.






19. Remove the front heater hose No.3 and front heater hose No.4. Service and Repair

20. Remove the front cooler pipe No.1 bracket installation nut.






21. Remove the nut.






22. Remove the front cooler pipe No.1 and front cooler pipe No.4. Service and Repair

CAUTION:
- If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.

23. Remove the nuts.






24. Remove the front A/C unit. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

25. Install in the reverse order of removal.

26. Perform the refrigerant system performance test.

Front A/C Unit Installation Note

1. When installing a new front A/C unit or front evaporator, add a supplemental amount of DENSO OIL8 compressor oil into the refrigerant cycle.

- 40 ml {40 cc, 1.4 fl oz}
