CRANKSHAFT OIL CLEARANCE INSPECTION/REPAIR [WLT-1, WLT-2, WL-3]

1.  Position a plastigage on top of the journals in the axial direction.

2.  Install the main bearing cap. (See CYLINDER BLOCK ASSEMBLY (I) [WLT-1, WLT-2, WL-3].)

3.  Remove the main bearing cap. (See CYLINDER BLOCK ASSEMBLY (III) [WLT-1, WLT-2, WL-3].)

4.  Measure the main journal oil clearance.

•  If the clearance exceeds the maximum specification, replace the main bearing or grind the main journal and install the undersize bearings so that the specified oil clearance is obtained.

No.1, 2, 4, 5: 0.027—0.046 mm {0.0011—0.0018 in}
No.3: 0.044—0.063 mm {0.0018—0.0025 in}
Maximum main journal clearance
0.08 mm {0.0031 in}
Main bearing thickness
Standard: 2.006—2.021 mm {0.0790—0.0795 in}
0.25 {0.01} undersize: 2.124—2.134 mm {0.0837—0.0840 in}
0.50 {0.02} undersize: 2.249—2.259 mm {0.0886—0.0889 in}
0.75 {0.03} undersize: 2.374—2.384 mm {0.0935—0.0938 in}
