OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [G6]

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Drain the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [G6].)

3.  Remove the under cover.

4.  Disconnect the center link on the left side of the vehicle. (See STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the front differential component. (4x4) (See FRONT DIFFERENTIAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove in the order shown in the figure.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  Fill with the specified amount and type of engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [G6].)

9.  Start the engine and inspect for engine oil leakage.

Oil Pan Removal Note

1.  Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.

Caution
•  Pry tools can easily scratch the cylinder block and oil pan contact surfaces. Prying off the oil pan can also easily bend the oil pan flange.

2.  Use a separate tool to separate the oil pan.

Oil Pan Installation Note

Caution
•  If the bolts are reused, remove the old sealant from the bolt threads. Tightening a bolt that has old sealant on it can cause bolt hole damage.

1.  Apply silicone sealant to the oil pan along the inside of the bolt holes and overlap the ends.

ø2.0—3.0 mm {0.08—0.11 in}

2.  Install the oil pan before the sealant hardens.
