TRANSFER CASE OIL REPLACEMENT [5R55S]

1. Warm up the transfer case.

2. Remove the transfer case under cover. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [5R55S].)

Caution

• Do not use an impact wrench when removing the filler plug or drain plug. It may damage the transfer case.

3. Remove the drain plug from the transfer case.

4. Drain the oil into a suitable container.

5. Tighten the new drain plug.

Tightening torque

19—30 N·m {2.0—3.0 kgf·m, 15—22 ft·lbf}

6. Remove the filler plug and add the specified amount and type of oil through the filler plug hole until the level reaches the bottom of the filler plug hole.

Transfer case oil

Type: Mercon^® V

Capacity (approx. quantity): 1.2 L {1.3 US qt, 1.1 lmp qt}

7. Tighten the new filler plug.

Tightening torque

19—30 N·m {2.0—3.0 kgf·m, 15—22 ft·lbf}

8. Install the transfer case under cover. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [5R55S].)
