2. ATF cooler/warmer installation

1) Install the ATF cooler/warmer bracket to the transmission.

Tightening torque: 47 N・m { 4.8 kgf・m / 35 lb・ft }

2) Install the ATF cooler/warmer to the ATF cooler/warmer bracket.

Tightening torque: 25 N・m { 2.5 kgf・m / 18 lb・ft }

3) Install the ATF cooler hose and ATF cooler pipe to the transmission.

Note

  • Install the clips in the following procedure.
  • Temporarily tighten clip A.
  • Temporarily tighten clip B.
  • Temporarily tighten clip C.
  • Final tighten clip A.
  • Final tighten clip B.
  • Final tighten clip C.

Note

  • If lubricant is needed when inserting the ATF cooler hose, use ATF.

Caution

  • Install clip A so that its left end section is on the mark. The directions of the other clips can be determined as desired.

Tightening torque: 23 N・m { 2.3 kgf・m / 17 lb・ft }

4JJ3 equipped models

4) Install the engine coolant hose and engine coolant pipe to the transmission.

Note

  • If lubricant is needed when inserting the engine coolant hose, use soapy water.

Caution

  • With the detent making contact with the converter housing, assemble the converter housing upper bracket.

Tightening torque: 23 N・m { 2.3 kgf・m / 17 lb・ft }

Note

  • When connecting the engine coolant hose and engine coolant pipe, align the cooling water hose or cooling water pipe end mark.

Caution

  • The hose end clip should not be placed on the engine coolant pipe spool section.

5) Connect the ATF cooler hose and engine coolant hose to the ATF cooler/warmer.

Caution

  • Insert the hose until it makes contact with the ATF cooler/warmer end section.
  • When connecting the hose, install so that the arrow is in the position shown in the diagram.

Note

  • When connecting the ATF cooler hose and the ATF cooler pipe, align the ATF cooler hose or the ATF cooler pipe end mark.

Caution

  • The hose end clip should not be placed on the ATF cooler pipe spool.

6) Connect the engine coolant hose to the engine coolant pipe.

Note

  • Depending on vehicle specifications, work from the inner side of the left front fender or from the engine hood side may be more efficient.

4JJ3 equipped models

3. ATF filling

1) Clean the drain plug.

2) Install a new gasket and the drain plug to the oil pan.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the gasket.

Tightening torque: 20 N・m { 2.0 kgf・m / 15 lb・ft }

3) Remove the filler plug and O-ring from the transmission.

4) Replenish the transmission with the ATF.

Caution

  • When Replenishing ATF, always perform the oil level adjustment using the overflow hole.

Note

  • The volume of oil cooler on the vehicle side is contained.

4. Coolant filling

Refer to the following items about adding engine coolant.

Caution

  • Be sure to add ATF for the transmission before starting work.
    If performing work without adding ATF, this may cause the transmission seizing.

5. ATF adjustment

Refer to the following items about ATF adjustment.

Caution

  • Be sure to add engine coolant before starting work.
    If performing work without adding ATF, this may cause the engine seizing.

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) ATF replacement".

6. Transmission air deflector installation

1) Install the transmission air deflector to the frame.

Tightening torque: 20 N・m { 2.0 kgf・m / 15 lb・ft }

1) Lower the vehicle.

2) Close the engine hood.
