1. Rear differential does not lock description of symptom

Even when the conditions for operating the rear differential control are met, the differential is not locked.

1) Inspect the rear differential switch system for the following, and repair or replace as necessary.

Rear differential switch
Between the rear differential switch and the rear differential control unit circuit
Rear differential control unit

2) Inspect the 4WD switch system for the following, and repair or replace as necessary.

3) Inspect the vehicle speed sensor system for the following, and repair or replace as necessary.

Vehicle speed sensor or EHCU
Between the vehicle speed sensor and the ECM circuit or between the EHCU and the ECM circuit
ECM

1) Inspect for the following, and repair or replace as necessary.

Rear differential position switch
Between the rear differential position switch and the rear differential control unit circuit
Rear differential control unit

1) Visual inspection of each gear

Inspect for wear, damage, or other abnormal conditions, and repair or replace as necessary.

Rear differential coil

Measure the coil resistance, and if the measured value is outside the specified range, replace.
