DTC P2458 Diesel Particulate Defuser (DPD) Regeneration Duration (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P2458 description

The ECM detects PM accumulation problems from the exhaust differential pressure sensor installed to the cylinder head cover bracket near the DPD. DPD automatic regeneration starts when a certain level of PM has accumulated or when the vehicle has been driven a certain distance. If automatic regeneration cannot be completed for some reason, the DPD operator regeneration indicator light in the instrument panel cluster will flash to request the driver to perform DPD regeneration. Once the DPD regeneration starts, it always finishes within a certain time. If the DPD regeneration is conducted consecutively over the predetermined time, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P2458

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that the purification status is retained with the DPD regeneration incomplete.

3. Action taken when DTC P2458 sets

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

  • The ECM limits the fuel injection quantity.
  • The ECM inhibits the cruise control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P2458

  • Refer to Conditions for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B.
