1. DTC P0973 description
Shift solenoid (SL) is turned ON and OFF based on the control signal from the TCM, and thereby switches the oil path in the valve. It releases the lock-up forcibly by switching the oil path in the valve, to prevent engine stall or perform reverse lock-out control. If a low voltage is detected in the shift solenoid (SL) circuit while shift solenoid (SL) is ON, the TCM determines this is due to a short to ground, and the DTC is set.
2. Condition for setting DTC P0973
Condition for running the DTC
- The ignition switch is ON.
- The battery voltage is 9.0 to 16.0 V.
- Shift solenoid (SL) is ON.
Condition for setting the DTC
- The TCM detects a short to ground in the shift solenoid (SL) circuit.
3. Action taken when DTC P0973 sets
- The TCM flashes the check trans warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
- The TCM inhibits the shift timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the lock-up timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the slip lock-up control.
- The TCM inhibits the garage control.
- The TCM inhibits the self-learning control.
- The TCM inhibits the engine torque control.
- The TCM inhibits the skip gear shift control.
- If the DTC is set in the reverse gear, the current gear position is retained.
- If the DTC is set while running, the current gear position is retained. If a solenoid malfunction is found while running in 6th gear, the gear is shifted to 5th.
- When the vehicle is stopped, the gear is shifted to 3rd.
4. Condition for clearing DTC P0973
- Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL, check trans warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
