Transfer case control operation check (4WD models)

1. Transfer control system check

Refer to "53.Driveline Control 3A.Troubleshooting(4WD models) diagnostic system check-transfer case controls".

2. Transfer actuator inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

2) Connect the scan tool.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Perform the Transfer Motor Forward Direction and Transfer Motor Reverse Direction with the scan tool.

5) Command the transfer actuator ON/OFF. Is the transfer actuator operative?

Yes

=>Go to Shift-on-the-fly actuator inspection.

No

Repair or replace as necessary.

=>Go to Transfer oil level inspection.

3. Shift-on-the-fly actuator inspection

1) Perform the Axle Motor Forward Direction and Axle Motor Reverse Direction with the scan tool.

2) Command the shift-on-the-fly actuator ON/OFF. Does the shift-on-the-fly actuator operate?

Yes

=>Go to Transfer oil level inspection.

No

Repair or replace as necessary.

=>Go to Transfer oil level inspection.

4. Transfer oil level inspection

1) Inspect the transfer oil level. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to Mechanical system inspection.

No

Add the transfer oil as necessary.

=>Go to Mechanical system inspection.

5. Mechanical system inspection

1) Inspect the mechanical system. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

Repair or replace as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Repair verification

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

2) Connect the scan tool.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Inspect the operation of the transfer actuator and shift-on-the-fly actuator with a scan tool. Is the result normal?

Yes

The system is normal.

No

=>Go to Transfer actuator inspection.
