DTC B0091[09] Passenger Door Side Airbag Sensor Malfunction (Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side))

1. DTC B0091[09] DTC description

The door side airbag sensor detects a side collision near the front door and converts it into electrical signals. The SRS control unit supplies power to the door side airbag sensor. When the door side airbag sensor detects an impact more than or equal to a predetermined level, the impact is converted into electrical signals and transmitted to the SRS control unit. The SRS control unit deploys the SRS airbag according to the electrical signals sent from the door side airbag sensor. If the SRS control unit detects a malfunction in the power supply circuit or ground circuit of the passenger door side airbag sensor, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC B0091[09]

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • The SRS control unit detects an abnormal passenger door side airbag sensor signal.
  • The SRS control unit detects a malfunction in the passenger door side airbag sensor.
  • The SRS control unit detects that the output difference between the driver door side airbag sensor signal and the passenger door side airbag sensor signal is large.

3. Action taken when DTC B0091[09] sets

  • SRS airbag warning light illuminates.
  • Even if the condition returns to normal, the warning light does not turn OFF until the DTC is cleared.

Warning

  • During the maintenance work, do not hit or shake the SRS control unit when handling it.
  • If the SRS control unit is not properly installed, the SRS control unit may cause malfunctions. This may result in deployment of the SRS airbag and personal injury.
