DTC P228A Common Rail Pressure Relief Valve IC Circuit Error (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P228A description

This diagnosis applies to the microprocessor inside the ECM.

2. Condition for setting DTC P228A

Condition for running the DTC

  • The battery voltage is 9 to 16 V.
  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The engine is running.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects a functional failure of the PCV control (IC) for 3 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC P228A sets

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

  • The ECM limits the fuel injection quantity.
  • The ECM inhibits the EGR control.
  • The ECM inhibits the cruise control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P228A
