1. DTC P0717 description
The turbine speed sensor is installed on the left side of the transmission case. The turbine speed sensor is a Hall element type sensor that generates signals for AC voltage based on the rotation speed of the direct clutch assembly and forward clutch assembly. The direct clutch assembly and forward clutch assembly generate 30 pulses by 1 rotation. The TCM uses the turbine speed sensor signals to calculate the slip amount of the torque converter or gear ratio. The TCM sets the DTC if there is no turbine speed sensor input even if there is output speed sensor input.
2. Condition for setting DTC P0717
Condition for running the DTC
- The ignition switch is ON.
- The battery voltage is 9.0 to 16.0 V.
- The engine speed is 550 rpm or more.
- The output speed is 300 rpm or more.
- DTCs P0715, P0720, P0722, U0073, and U0100 are not set.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC P0715 (Flash Code 14) Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit".
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC P0720 (Flash Code 11) Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit".
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC P0722 (Flash Code 11) Output Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal".
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC U0073 (Flash Code 65) Control Module Communication Bus Off".
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC U0100 (Flash Code 67) Lost Communication With ECM".
Condition for setting the DTC
- While the output speed sensor signal is input, the TCM detects that no turbine speed sensor signal is input.
3. Action taken when DTC P0717 sets
- The TCM flashes the check trans warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
- The TCM calculates the turbine speed based on the output speed and current gear position.
- The TCM inhibits the shift timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the lock-up timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the slip lock-up control.
- The TCM inhibits the garage control.
- The TCM inhibits the self-learning control.
- The TCM inhibits the engine torque control.
- The TCM inhibits the skip gear shift control.
- If the DTC is set in the reverse gear, the current gear position is retained.
- If the DTC is set while running, the current gear position is retained. If a solenoid malfunction is found while running in 6th gear, the gear is shifted to 5th.
- When the vehicle is stopped, the gear is shifted to 3rd.
4. Condition for clearing DTC P0717
- Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL, check trans warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
