DTC P0731 (Flash Code 81) Gear Ratio 1st Gear With Engine Brake (No E/B) (AWR6B45)

1. DTC P0731 description

If the TCM determines an engine braking status with the accelerator pedal released while running in 1st gear of the manual mode, it engages the B4 brake to raise the effect of the engine brake. If the TCM detects that the engine brake cannot be applied while the vehicle is running in manual mode 1st gear, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0731

Condition for running the DTC

The output speed is 60 rpm or more.
The vehicle is running in the manual mode 1st gear.
DTCs P0715, P0717, P0720, and P0722 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

The TCM detects that the engine brake cannot be applied.

3. Action taken when DTC P0731 sets

The TCM flashes the check trans warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type C.

The TCM inhibits the self-learning control.
