DTC P245D Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Bypass Control Circuit High (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P245D description

The EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve is installed to the inlet manifold via the bracket. When any engine coolant temperature, EGR gas temperature, engine speed, or fuel injection quantity satisfies a certain condition, the ECM controls the EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve to adjust the vacuum. By adjusting the vacuum, it activates the EGR cooler bypass control actuator in order to open or close the EGR cooler bypass valve. If the ECM detects a short to the battery power supply circuit or a short to the ignition power supply circuit in the solenoid valve control circuit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P245D

Condition for running the DTC

  • The battery voltage is 9 to 16 V.
  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • DTC P1606 is not set.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC P1606 ECM Internal IC Failure".

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects a high voltage condition in the EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve control circuit for 3 seconds or more when the solenoid is commanded ON.

3. Action taken when DTC P245D sets

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".

4. Condition for clearing DTC P245D

  • Refer to Conditions for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".
