DTC P003A Turbocharger Boost Control Solenoid Performance (4JJ3 without DPD)

1. DTC P003A description

The turbocharger internal control unit controls the VGS actuator by the signal sent from the ECM via the CAN communication circuit, and it performs the opening and closing operation of the nozzle vane. Turbocharger internal control unit monitors the operation of the turbocharger. If the turbocharger internal control unit detects a turbocharger malfunction, it sends the information to the ECM. If the ECM detects an abnormal signal from the turbocharger internal control unit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P003A

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The battery voltage is 10 to 16 V.
  • DTCs U0001, U0074, and U0110 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that the nozzle operating angle is too small or too large.

3. Action taken when DTC P003A sets

  • Euro4: The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type B (Euro4).
  • Except Euro4: The ECM illuminates the check engine warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type B (Except Euro4).

  • The ECM inhibits the cruise control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P003A

  • Euro4: Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B (Euro4).
  • Except Euro4: Refer to Condition for clearing the check engine warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B (Except Euro4).
