DTC P1A32[64] Transfer Motor Position Sensor Error (4WD models)

1. DTC P1A32[64] description

The transfer actuator is installed to the transfer and performs switching between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, and between High and Low using one actuator.
The transfer actuator consists of the following components.

  • ECU
  • Motor
  • position sensor

The ECU with a built-in transfer actuator detects the output shaft angle based on the signal from the position sensor and sends it to the TCCM. The TCCM recognizes the transfer actuator driving conditions based on the received angle information via CAN communication. If the TCCM recognizes a position sensor malfunction, this DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P1A32[64]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The battery voltage is 10 to 16 V.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The TCCM receives a failure message of the position sensor from the actuator.

3. Action taken when DTC P1A32[64] sets

  • The TCCM illuminates the check 4WD warning light when the diagnostic runs and fails.
  • The TCCM is reset after the ignition switch turns OFF.
  • If the DTC is set while the transfer actuator is stopped, the TCCM maintains the stop status of the transfer actuator.
  • If the DTC is set while the transfer actuator is driven, the TCCM continues to control by substituting the Hall sensor signal.
