1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.
3) Start the engine.
4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC P0651 set at the same time?
Yes
Go to DTC P0651 diagnosis.

=>Go to Accelerator pedal position sensor 2 signal voltage check.
1) Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal while observing the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 parameter on the scan tool. Does the scan tool display a value less than or equal to the specified value while the pedal is being depressed and released?
Value: 0.4 V
Yes
=>Go to Accelerator pedal position sensor 2, 5 V reference voltage check.
No
Go to Intermittent conditions of engine.
Refer to "202.Engine 15D.Symptom(4JJ3 with DPD) intermittent conditions of engine".
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Disconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor harness connector (C67).
3) Turn ON the ignition switch.
4) Measure the voltage between the 5 V reference circuit (pin 1 of C67) of accelerator pedal position sensor 2 and the body ground with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

No
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in 5 V reference circuit of accelerator pedal position sensor 2.
1) Connect a fused jumper wire between the 5 V reference circuit and the signal circuit of accelerator pedal position sensor 2 (pins 1 and 3 of C67).

Value: 4.5 V
Yes
=>Go to Accelerator pedal position sensor harness connector inspection.
No
1) Inspect the 5 V reference circuit between the ECM (pin 31 of C8) and accelerator pedal position sensor 2 (pin 1 of C67) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?
